Word to Dialogue

Copy-editing and technical writing for the energy and environment arena

Making sense of sustainability

I work with clients to produce accurate, polished and persuasive publications that fit the brief.

I’m an established copy-editor, copywriter and researcher specialising in the energy and environment fields. Freelance since 2010, I’ve worked on hundreds of projects relating to sustainability, from next-generation renewables and energy use in buildings, to climate policy and green innovation.

It isn’t always easy to write clearly about environmental matters – the topics are often complex and the available space limited. With a master’s degree in Environmental Technology and extensive knowledge of the subject matter, I take on the responsibility for ensuring readers will understand what you want to say.

I'm a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and abide by the CIEP's Code of Practice. See my entry in the CIEP online Directory of Editorial Services. Clients tell me they value my flexibility, attention to detail and strong communication skills.

I'd be delighted to hear from you. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.

    International Energy Agency

I’ve been copy-editing for the IEA since 2011. For a recent project, ‘The Role of Critical Minerals in Clean Energy Transitions’, I focused on ensuring consistency of terminology and the use of plain language throughout. The result is a publication that’s technical yet widely understandable.

    Oxford University Innovation

Oxford University Innovation asked me to write a series of 20 case studies on a range of technical topics. I drafted the case studies to be short and succinct, yet persuasive, showcasing the client’s skills and experience in technology transfer and commercialising intellectual property.

    Carbon Counts

I’ve supported specialist energy consultancy, Carbon Counts, on a range of projects on climate change mitigation. For example, I contributed to a report on the issues surrounding the sustainability of biomass production in the context of complete reporting and accounting.
